How I Use Essential Oils

This page will be updated with new blends and recipes that I find using essential oils.

For the basic uses of my favorite oils please see essential oil basics
If you would like to see some of my other recipes (not necessarily with essential oils) see my recipes page
NOTE- I use only dōTERRA Essential Oils and the information contained on this page relates only to this brand. Other brands may not have the same properties or results.

MY AFTER-GARDEN BATH RITUAL

Know the feeling of that last time you straighten up from gardening when you realise you couldn’t bend to pick up one more weed without doing serious damage? Since injuring my back 6 months ago, my garden time is not what it used to be. Luckily I have found a combination that lets sleep pain free and me go out for more the next day.
My mixture of doterra essential oils in the bathwater is –
Marjoram (awesome muscle relaxant) – 5-7 drops
Frankincense (sooths those minor cuts and scratches from noxious weeds, chicken wire, or whatever)
Lavender (if I want to sleep well)
Or Bergamot (if I am not in the mood for lavender – calms the mind)
I add a tablespoon of coconut oil so my whole body comes out moisturized.
Once I have finished my soak I spritz with Doterra Hydrating body mist, put a drop of tea tree oil on my toe nails and clean the tub with On Guard surface cleaner.
Done!

COLD SORES

I recently had a guest who developed a cold sore. She didn’t have any of her medication with her so I looked up what essential oils might help. I made up a salve with the ones I had on hand, she applied this regularly for 2 days and the cold sore was gone. She says it normally takes 2 weeks to run its course but this stopped it in its tracks.
1 drop each of these oils in a teaspoon of base (I had emulifying cream which is parafin but any base cream would probably be fine)
Melaleuca (Tea tree)
Peppermint
Lemon
On Guard
Lavender
Bergemot

INSECT REPELLENT

I use coconut oil as the base for this – 10 drops each in 2 tablespoons.
Patchouli
Sandlewood
Cedarwood
Rosemary
Lemongrass
